Thursday we left home a bit early to go to the Institute so I could try on my newly altered suit. It fit perfectly -- the alternations were all spot-on! We were in and out in just a few minutes. Very nice. Here is Gino, plus me in the suit:
I really like the color and the fit.
In the afternoon we worked on our upcoming lessons, as well as doing a dry run of Zoom for my wife. It was a good thing we did so, as there were a few issues that she definitely needed to go through. I had purchased an external microphone to get better quality audio, which came in handy, as did some earbuds to cut out echoes. Learning how to "share" the screen of her applications (Powerpoint, FamilySearch browser) took some doing too, but by the time her class started she was quite good at it.
The evening was very busy here. All the rooms were full! The Ganziani had an English class in one classroom, with two Sorelle in town from Pescara who came to help out (we later drove them home to stay with the Sorelle living beneath us). Dee had her first Family History class in the other classroom via Zoom, which I was able to help her get started. She said that she was able to teach some new tricks to her students, even those who had been doing genealogy for years. I am not surprised! She also got some good doctrinal discussion and questions going. Next week I'll be able to participate as well.
And then in the library we had the English Book of Mormon Institute class via Zoom, with Marilyn Faulkner teaching from her home in Del Mar. That went quite well, and she seemed tickled to have students listening from all over: Rome, Malta, Milano, Bolzano, Brazil, etc. She taught using a chapter from her book, The User Friendly Book of Mormon, on the brother of Jared's 16 stones, and did a very nice job relating it to real-world issues for the kids. She even got a bunch of participation over the video conference. Here is a view of Zoom on the big screen showing all the different locations, with Marilyn on the top right and us in the library in the middle on the top:
By the time we got home we were quite tired, but happy for a rewarding day. Because Friday would be an early morning (Zone Conference), we basically went right to bed.
