Sunday Thunderstorms

Today was a nice day in church, though we were both a bit zonked from fasting -- it happens. My lesson went ok, not quite as well as before, but the class was smaller and the topic didn't lend itself as well to discussion. We took a big block of cheddar cheese from Metro to give to Ugo after church; it's not available many places here (though there are zillions of types of Italian cheese!) but is fairly cheap at Metro, so he had asked us to pick one up for his family.

As we drove home, it was rather dark, and soon the thunderstorms started, after we got home fortunately. It was rather spectacular and lasted for a couple of hours. The temperature was fairly chilly, so we turned on the space heater in the living room for a while. The apartment complex management controls the heat going to the radiators in our rooms, won't turn on for a week or so. Until then we might be a bit chilly.

I finally got the SIM card transferred over to my new phone, which involved cutting it from a microSIM to a nanoSIM size. Apparently the operation isn't all that precise or difficult, because I did it and the phone is working fine. As with any new phone, there is still a bunch of configuration to finish (e.g., pairing headsets and Pebble watches), but everything seems to be installed and working. It'll be nice to have better battery life.

This evening I heard from an old Caltech friend, MikeC, who was the best man at our wedding. We had lost contact for a good while, so it was nice to touch bases.

Generally it was a relaxed day, which was nice. This week looks to be fairly easy, but we never quite know.
