Spot it!

Wednesday being our "day off", we had a fairly relaxed morning, although I did get up a bit early to drive four Sorelle to their Zone Conference, leaving here at 7:30am. I was back in half an hour. Later I walked down to Conad for some produce and to the Chinese store for a few small things: distilled water, zip ties, teaspoons, dish soap, and a metal file. You can buy almost anything at our Chinese store!

At 2pm we left for Metro to get some cheddar cheese for upcoming meals, plus a bunch of other things for which they have good prices. The car was fairly full as we left there. My wife then realized that, with her schedule the next couple of days, she had no time for shopping for Friday night's dinner, so we found a nearby Lidl where she bought some sausage. From there we drove to the Institute, arriving just after 4pm. That's earlier than usual on Wednesdays, but Anziano Sprague was sick with a cold so they couldn't cover for us. Thus we wanted to make the place available for the kids. We had two big loads of stuff to carry up and put away.

The Windows 10 upgrade on the old Dell desktop seemed to have gone fine. I tuned up, deleted, and configured a few things, and it's looking quite good, having apparently fixed the network issues. I also called about my 401(k) rollover into an IRA -- since my old company got bought last year, I had little choice. There's still some paperwork to do, but it seems fairly straightforward.

Game night started at 7pm, and there were a handful of kids present. At first we played a game called "Spot It", which has a number of fun variations, all involving spotting matches of items on round cards in competition with others. Turns out that I am not very good at that kind of thing, but it was fun. The game can be played with small kids, since it doesn't involve reading or writing. We laughed a lot. My wife put out some store-bought cookies, plus some that she made herself, so the kids were very happy.

My wife had phone calls to make for some things that came up, so she only played a few rounds with us. After a while we switched to Cover Your Assets, which was won by Francesco, who was playing for the first time.

We got home about our regular time, though my wife realized that she had left her phone at the Institute. Fortunately for us, district meeting Thursday was cancelled for a couple of reasons, so we'll have a bit more time available in the morning than we had feared. I suspect we'll head in a bit early, as it's kinda hard to live without a smartphone, given our lifestyle here.
