Office Chairs

Wednesday was fairly relaxed, being our day off from the Institute. I'm back to walking up the apartment stairs at least four times every morning (over 25 floors), and my leg is doing quite well, with only a few minor twinges occasionally. In the morning I also got a haircut, shorter than I had wanted, but it had been over two months since my last one, which is far longer than usual for me. The barber uses a razor to do some of the work, and I make sure not to talk with him while he's doing that!

In the afternoon we went to the mall, with a quick stop at Auchan to pick up a bit of food for us. Then we went to Ikea, where we bought a few small things for our apartment, plus two office chairs for the young sisters living below us. They only have narrow kitchen chairs, which aren't very comfortable for studying. We got approval from the mission office, so we were able to buy them using our mission credit card -- only the second time we have ever used it. After we returned home, I assembled the two chairs; the second one took a lot less time, once I knew what I was doing. The sisters got home a bit late, so we will deliver the chairs to them Thursday.

My wife has been working on setting up doctor appointments for her parents. It has been slightly difficult at times because there was no way for a doctor's office to call her back. We had planned to use MagicJack for a local US number, but that hasn't worked out very well, so she was calling with Skype but without a number to give them to call her back. This afternoon I figured out (duh!) that she could just buy a local Skype number for about $50/year that will ring on the Skype app on her cell phone. Not sure why it took so long for me to realize that. She jumped right on it and got a number in our home area code (760), and already she has received a callback from one of the doctors she gave it out to. Very nice!
