Monday morning Dee left about 10:30am to go on the subway to Dr. Giorgini for another shot in her knee. The first one from last week has already done wonders. It took the insurance until late Sunday evening to approve the treatment, and it was a pleasant surprise that they were able to do so on the weekend. I walked to Conad for a bunch of produce for us and for Taco Tuesday. We got news about the missionary transfers later this week. Much remains the same around here, but we will be getting two new Sorelle and one new Anziano in Roma 3. We know two of the three new ones, and they are wonderful!
Two Amazon packages arrived at Paolo's office, which I picked up. I had bought a new wall clock (under 10€) to put on the living room wall. It was to be completely silent, identical to a model I bought some months ago. I am bothered by background noise, while Dee is not, and my plan was to take the old noisy one to put in the Institute kitchen, with the new silent one in our living room. On the rare night when I need to sleep propped up in there, the noisy clock bothers me. However, when I put the battery in this new one, it made a very loud constant noise, unlike its prior supposedly identical but quiet twin. Very strange. I asked to return it as defective on amazon.it; they immediately refunded my money and said I didn't have to ship it back, which probably would have cost them more than the item itself.
On the way into the Institute, I filled the car up with gas. Soon after we each arrived the the Institute, Sami, a recent convert from Perugia, showed up for the first time there. He was baptized by Anziano Osmond and came into town the night before for the fireside. The plan was for the Osmonds to drop by the Institute, but they apparently got held up doing some sightseeing. Jomar ran into them and said that everyone kept stopping Donny and asking for a photo with him. He was very patient, but that must get old. Anyway, they never made it to see us or Sami, so he headed out for home after a while. Jayno also was disappointed to miss the last opportunity to see Anziano Osmond,
Being P-day, there were a number of missionaries around during the afternoon. I reorganized the bulletin board, which had become a bit stale. The cards with photos and favorite scriptures of our kids were not staying on the wall with FunTac, so I took them down and stapled them onto the bulletin board, which should hold them better.
Dee made an apple pie and also prepared her FHE lesson on the Light the World campaign. She found a fun video on the church's Italian website about our own Jomar and his conversion story, which you can see here in English (with Russian subtitles). His hair was much longer then, and he was embarrassed at first when she surprised him by showing the video, but then he enjoyed it. He said that he had forgotten all about the interview, which was from four years ago. The story is very nice, but unfortunately it was hard for everyone to see past the old hairstyle!
The pie was warm and wonderful, with whipped cream on top. After that we played a fun card game together. We got home at the regular time, which was nice because we were both tired. Dee would stay up late doing Christmas shopping on amazon.com for our family at home. They are getting together this coming weekend, because Chiara will be here for Christmas, so thank goodness for Prime shipping!
